The swimsuit 2013

Summer, summer: here we are!! And who says summer says...."farniente", beach and swimsuits! And when it comes to choose your swimsuit there is something you must pay attention to: your body-shape.
Like I did in a post one year ago, here are some tips for you to pick the appropriate one among this season collections.

Hourglass

Your build is characterized by:
  • a defined bust
  • a defined waist
  • a neat bottom
  • neat hips
My recommendation: you can wear any styles as long as your proportions are good

Wildfox-Asos

River Island- Asos

Triangle

Your build is characterized by:
  • full hips or thighs
  • a defined waist
  • shoulders narrower than your hips
My recommendation: keep detailing above the waist

Chloe Mouille- Asos

Rosamosario netaporter.com

The inverted Triangle figure

  • straight and square shoulder line
  • little definition between waist/hips
  • flat hips and bottom
  • a bottom half that seems smaller than your top half
My recommendation: keep minimum detail on your shoulder line, details on hips work well

Adele Mouille- Asos

Rectangle

  • straight shoulders line
  • straight hips and bottom
  • very little waist definition
  • straight ribcage
My recommendation: choose a swim-suit that accentuate your waist with details or geometric effects

Round

  • rounded shoulder line
  • curved back
  • fullness around the middle
  • flattish bottom

My recommendation: simple line, if details above the bust line, vet top or tankini that covers the middle

The T-Shirt message

Very "trending" this year, the T-shirt or sweat-shirt message is the ideal piece for adding a little twist to a boring basic. And No it is not for "teenagers-only" and Yes you can wear it even if you are up to 40 something old... How? Play it chic, not too sporty.  For instance: tuxedo jacket + slim or boot-cut jeans, very nice and cool with a pencil skirt as well. One last thing: the message, choose one you really like and fits your personalty!

black t-shirt Zoe Karssen Mywardrobe, sweat-shirt La superbe Sézane, t-shirt "Play" comme des garcons at La garconne, Opening Ceremony, t-shirt "easy tiger" Asos.

"Made in Italy": the sunglasses.

It's very "cliché" but yes indeed, Italians truly are sunglasses lovers! They wear them all the time, I mean even if: the weather is not sunny, indoor or late evening. The "spectacles and sunglasses question" is something to take seriously and the Milanese really pay attention to design. We are sometimes  attracted by a style or a shape of sunglasses that might not be the best choice to embellish our face...  So here are some tips on how to choose the right pair.

  1. Oval: most shapes and styles will suit you, except extreme geometric designs.
  2. Square or rectangle: look for lightweight oval or rounded styles. Avoid square or rectangle shapes wich will emphasize the angles of your face.
  3. Round: frames that are slightly wider then your face will make it seem smaller. Square or rectangular frames balance a round face but avoid round shapes and full,  frameless lenses.
  4. Inverted triangle: the frames should not extend beyond your temple.
Actually there are more visage shapes than 4 but this is enough to understand the main rules. Now that you know them check out my selection "made in Italy" from the most cutting edge sunglasses designers: IllestevaretroSuperfuture , Spektre and pick your favorite one!

Summer Shoes

Yes, it's summer every-days here in Singapore! So sometimes I miss the four seasons because it breaks the routine and it's a good excuse for revamping my clothes and shoes wardrobe. A few days ago, I had a message from a charming lady and "Style and the City" follower regarding casual shoes that look chic and yet comfortable. As the weather is quite hot my first advice is favoring leather shoes and avoid synthetic as feet can not  "breathe" in synthetic shoes. Then Ladies (and Gentlemen!),  as everybody can see your toes in opened-shoes, another advice for being chic in any occasion is always having your pedicure done. Here is one of my selections for summer shoes, the brands are available in Singapore. Tell me: wich one is your fav?
1+2: Pretty Fit, 3+4: Topshop, 5: Steve Madden, 6+7: Zara, 8: DKNY

Essential Nude

No matter the trends, nude sandals are and always be a women wardrobe must have. Why?
Because:
1st- When wearing a short dress or skirt: It make your legs look longer!
2nd- Nude sandals match with almost every outfit and with a "dramatic one" they are the perfect partner: "less is more"!!
Here are some illustrations: are you inspired?
